My Story of Women Dating Younger Men
On my 37th birthday, I found myself in love with a man at 24. That means he was 13 years younger than me. At first, I tried to control the temptation to enter into this relationship due to the huge difference in our ages. However, it became clear that our feelings for each other were very much connected and that my happiness depended heavily on overcoming the perceived shameful nature of dating a younger man. So, working through some relationship issues, I also learn why he was attracted to me. That’s what I learned.
First, older women aren’t so picky about looks. As we age and mature, we tend to learn that appearances aren’t as important as we thought when we were teenagers. Sometimes I didn’t even put makeup on when I went out on a date and it doesn’t take me more than an hour to put makeup on before I go out anymore. My man once told me that he’d rather kiss a woman who didn’t have a “layer of shield on her face”, nor did he have to worry about buying the latest clothes.
Second, older women are more financially and mentally independent. I am completely independent, able to pay my own phone bills. When he’s not around, I can also make plans for myself and don’t have to beg him to buy me expensive luxury items.
Third, older women aren’t “dramatic” except for a few friends I know. I’m not interested in the privacy of his co-workers, or trying to put other people down, or getting passive aggressive with him to get what I want. I won’t use my period as an excuse to do what I love and get by.
Older women have more life experience. For most of my life, I’ve mastered the most important aspects of my life, but I’ve also learned the ins and outs of the little things. For example, I can cook him a Chinese dinner, choose the right choice of wine and of course share my intimate experience with him.
Finally, it’s never a bad idea for women dating younger men. I have a successful and happy life living with a man who is much younger than me and I believe you can too!
