Beaches – Friends Forever – Girls’ Getaway in Turks and Caicos
A great little tropical getaway for girlfriends. (Or guy friends if you can pull off the Bosom Buddies trick). And it’s short enough that you’ll still be friends when the vacation is over.
The promise they make is that the weekend will be full of fun, sunshine and the ultimate in girly bonding time for a getaway you’ll never forget – it’s all about hanging on your best friends and experience everything that goes into a Beaches Resort Vacation – from scuba diving to delicious meals and events created just for you. . . etc . . . you got the idea.
My sister discovered this BFF getaway and thought it would be the perfect thing to celebrate her birthday with a close friend. She ended up taking me instead. haha. We were supposed to go in October, then Hurricane Ike hit and shut down the whole island, so we rescheduled the May getaway.
I was very excited about the trip. Judging by the photos on the Beaches website, it was an immaculate resort, with impeccable service, perfect accommodations, perfect surroundings, and something that worried me a bit. . . PERFECT people, with their perfect children, small, spotless and smiling.
The photos of young, beautiful, perfect girls laughing in their island glasses made me wonder if I was going to stay like a sore thumb in my Wal-Mart No Boundaries swimsuit. This led me to start buying costumes on eBay on impulse for a tiny bit. When we arrived, I breathed a sigh of relief at how normal the other girls were. I suspect they were thinking the same thing, because I could see the relief on everyone’s faces during the meet and greet, as their stiff, uncertain body language immediately relaxed.
There was such a wide range of women at the getaway. From average young girls looking for fun, to middle-aged professionals who needed an excuse for a long-awaited vacation, to stay-at-home moms who missed their kids because it was the first time they were far from them. They were of ALL shapes and sizes and of all ages. And everyone got along very well.
BFF getaway activities
You can pack your schedule with many activities they have on the itinerary, or skip them all to just relax. We picked the things that seemed like fun, but ended up attending a few extra events just to hang out with some of the new friends we made. Here are some of the events we had to choose from:
– A welcome cocktail with champagne and hors d’oeuvres
– Morning namaste yoga on the beach (every day)
– Water sports (every day)
– Island dance lessons (every day)
– Yoga classes for beginners (every day)
– Skincare course by Wilma Schumann (every day)
– Sunset catamaran cruise (highly recommended!)
– BFF beach bash (it’s basically the girls attending the Caribbean BBQ)
– Dance with the stars at Club Liquid
– Meditation classes
– Beach bonfire PJ party (the tables of various chocolate desserts were worth it!)
– Farewell dinner
That was just the itinerary for the girls’ getaway. There were also all the other events throughout the complex that you could opt for. Some of the girls decided to have a jacuzzi party, while others kept to themselves and didn’t attend any of the events.
The BFF package was great. We stayed for 5 days and honestly I wanted to move in forever. I thought about forming a rough shelter in a tree so I could stay. The little extras we got with the bff deal were also a pleasant surprise.

The sunset catamaran cruise was my favorite activity! They actually hired some fun staff to enjoy the cruise with us, make sure everyone had a good time, and keep our drinks topped up. There was a DJ playing party music, an open bar and refreshments. They anchored at a spot so we could dive into the water to swim or snorkel. Everyone had a great time, even though they were just sitting on the sidelines watching the party as a photographer walked away. Some of those pics were fuh-ney! The sunset was beautiful there too! It was the perfect backdrop for frame-worthy photos!
The spa experience
I used my spa credit for an 80 minute Caribbean massage worth $170. They credited the remaining $30.00 on the internet that I purchased for the room, which was $38.00. The massage was so relaxing. The description was “Our signature West Indian massage takes you on a relaxing Caribbean journey that combines a full body massage with island elements such as warm river stones, fragrant rainforest mists and a sensual white sand exfoliation for your tired feet.”
Then my sister heard from a girl that it was all about swaddling, cuddling and scratching, and told me I should move on to another massage because it sounded weird. They teased me that the masseuse was going to rock me and cuddle me, maybe climb on the table with me or lay on my back. Then there was the issue of scratching, as I had been scorched by the intense Caribbean sun. My curiosity prompted me to keep the date because I thought it sounded too weird to be true, and if so. . . haha OH BOY! the story I would have to tell!
It was not as they described it. The only part close to weird was the hair pulling part of the massage, which felt good in a “It feels borderline kinky” way. She really pulled my hair too hard! I was taken by surprise on that one. Other than that it was so relaxing. I came out of there all euphorically disoriented, like, “Where am I? Where am I going?…Am I drooling?”
All in all, the Beaches Friends Forever Girl getaway is the perfect vacation if you want to get away with your girlfriends (or sister) for a fun and relaxing experience in luxury. We had a great time and created great memories that I will never forget. Especially the inappropriate laughs.
